18 Oct 1900
Quite a sad accident occurred Friday in the home of Mr. Chauncey Clapp, who lives on North Main Street. Shortly after the noon hour Mrs. Clapp put her six month old baby to sleep, and taking it upstairs laid it on the bed and threw a cover over the little one. In some way the baby worked itself under some heavy covers that were laying across the foot of the bed. One of the family going upstairs at about four o'clock found it is a state of suffocation. Dr. Kendall was called immediately and did all that medical skill could do to save the baby's life but to no avail. The child died at 10:00 o'clock that evening.
