CREWS, JAMES L. - James L. Crews, age 68 of Tipp City, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born June 20, 1940 in Champaign, Illinois, the son of the late Ted B. & Olivia Crews. He retired from McCauley Accessory Division and was a member of the International Association of Machinists Union. He was a longtime member of the United States Trotting Association. James was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Marie; brothers Eddie and Larry; and his sister, Joann Buchanan. Survivors include his daughters, Roxanne Shumway of Dayton and Rhonda Crews and fiancee, Noah Garrett of Dayton; ex-wife and friend, Mary; step-daughter, Nicole (Adam); daughter, Rylee Mick; grandchildren, Miranda (Josh) Ryder-Miller, Rodney, Josey, and Forrest; brother, Paul K. (Beverly) Crews of Miamisburg; sister, Helen Buckles of Dayton; and numerous nieces. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Newcorner Funeral Home & Crematory, 4101 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio. Interment will follow at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
